In 1868 there was only one bowling club in Coatbridge which was Coatbridge Bowling Club.
At this time the sport was increasing in popularity and it was recognized that another club was required in the town and so Victoria Bowling Club was born.
The first President of the club was Mr. Robert Blacklock who along with his board of directors laid the foundation for a proud club with strong traditions which to this day are still maintained.
St. Thomas’s Methodist Church (Top Picture) was purchased in 1980, converted into the main club house and was opened in 1985. The original clubhouse still stands to this day although it has since been converted into a locker room.
We have also added a viewing room/visitors changing room which was kindly donated by another of the club sponsors, Milnwood Doors and Windows whose owner is Past President George Milne
